Dear Parents and Carers,
On Friday 27th November, Staff from the Outreach Department at Liverpool University will be spending the day in KS2. The Outreach Staff are bringing with them approximately fifty boxes of fun, practical maths activities for the children to work on throughout the day. Each year group (from year three to year six) has been allocated an hour in the Junior Hall to work on the tasks as follows:
Year 3 - 9:30am to 10:30am
Year 4 - 10:45am to 11:45am
Year 5 - 13:00pm to 14:00pm
Year 6 - 14:00pm to 15:00pm
The practical activities will help to dispel some of the misconceptions and fears surrounding Maths, which can occasionally lead to children developing barriers to learning. The aim is to illustrate how Maths is an enjoyable, accessible subject for everyone to engage in, and learn.
I’m sure the day will prove to be a great success, and hopefully the Outreach Department will re-visit us in the Spring Term to work with the children in Foundation Stage and KS1.
Kind regards,
Mr. Knowles
