Dear Parents, A big "well done!" to all the pupils in year 3 and 4, not just those who attended and competed last Wednesday, at St. Bede's.
St. Annes took a team of 26 pupils including 7 year 3's to the event, and everyone helped gain points for the team in a terrific contest with 10 other Primary schools.
The event was first created for year 5/6 approx. 11 years ago, and the year 3/4 event approx. 8 years ago, and we have been fortunate to be successful each and every year!
The standard and effort from all schools and pupils was great to see, with 12 running events and 12 "field" events to compete in.
St. Annes finished 1st with 440 points, 2nd was Town Green on 412 points and 3rd was Ormskirk C. of E. on 376 points.
Of the 24 events St. Annes were ranked 1st in 12 and 2nd in 2. Town Green were ranked 1st in 6 and 2nd in 5, a really close contest, which will always raise standards.
My Thanks to the pupils who were not selected, your efforts in P.E. has raised the standards of those chosen and you deserve some credit for your efforts.
Can I thank the Parents, for collecting the athletes and their support, and the organisers for putting the effort into such a good event, with the assistance of the sports Leaders from local High Schools.
I must thank the St. Annes staff who helped get the 26 pupils to the event, and finally the 3 St. Bede's pupils who stepped in to coach and supervise our runners. These girls, who once starred in our school team, were excellent, especially with their enthusiasm, which they had in abundance when they were younger, and still have today, without them we may not have done so well.
Thanks and well done, Mr. Thomas.
