Dear Parents, Thanks for all your help yesterday at the cross country, getting 31 pupils to Tarleton and back is a lot of work, I think the event is well worth the effort-without your help a lot of pupils could not have attended.
The event organisers were delighted with the attendance and the effort of the runners, to see so many pupils taking part, and trying their very best was a great advert for school sports.
Results; The team results are based on the 2 best placed runners in each race from your school, and the lowest team total-yr 3 + yr 4, will be the winners.
There were lots of schools split up into Large-Medium-small, and very small-the results for our team were really good.
The Girls year 3 race-we entered 9 Girls for this race, who gave St. Annes a great start, with a 1st and 2nd place-a score of 3 in total, fantastic.
The Girls year 4 race-we entered 7 Girls for this race, combined score of 37, when added to the year 3 total = 40 points,
Considering we were missing one of our best yr 4 runners through injury, this was an excellent effort by all the Girls and they finished 2nd overall.
The year 3 Boys-we entered 7 boys for this race-our best finish was 7th and 14th = 21 points.
The year 4 Boys- we entered 8 boys with the 1st place and 7th, total 8 points, overall the Boys won the event with 28 points.
We had 3 individual medalists and the Teams won Gold for Boys and Silver for the Girls-as schools are allowed to bring large numbers, only the two runners whose points were entered in the team score get medals-this is unfortunate, especially on any top 10 finisher who is 3rd runner home for their school, though we cannot expect 16 Gold medals and 15 Silver, all pupils have certificates, all pupils ran well with great determination, I hope they put their hand up for cross country in the future-it is hard, but a great event-thank you for all your help and support, Mr. Thomas.
P.S. If anyone has picked up a sports bag-"Ormskirk Otters" by mistake please send it into school.
