Dear Parents, a big thank you to all 20 girls who took part in the West Lancashire eliminator for the youth games. The event was at JMO Park in Skelmersdale and the weather was awful. Everyone got soaked, the effort of all the girls at the competition, made it all worthwhile. We played 6 matches each, including a close match with our B Team, 1-0. The school B Team came 4th, and the A Team came 2nd. The winners-Ormskirk C. of E. beat us 2-0 and won all 6 games, they deserved to progress to the games in Blackpool. Can I thank the Parents for the support and transport, the staff who made it possible to take 2 teams, and the girls who have attended football training all year, they have progressed a lot. We now focus on our Liverpool Academy finals-13th June-I selected the 10 girls to go last week-following the Skelmersdale competition. The decision was a hard one-we have a lot of good girls, but only 10 can go. I selected the girls who combined real football skill, with the ability to run all day, this is due to the pitch at Liverpool, being larger than any we have previously played on, the team who pass and move the ball will do well, we cannot rely on one girl running from one end of the pitch to the other, so passing and ball control are really important. I hope all the girls enjoyed this year, we have been very successful and kept our squad numbers high, Thanks Mr. Thomas.
