Dear Parents, Our girls tried really hard and played some good football at Liverpool's Academy, yesterday. We outplayed the opposition-St. Paul's, West Derby, in the 1st half, and had a shock when we went a goal down, with their 1st effort on goal. The girls fought back to 1-1 at the break, and we looked good for a result. However the opposition had other ideas and found their shooting boots in the 2nd half. We tried to respond, but were unlucky in front of goal, and the other team defended really well, once in front. The full size goals-and enormous pitch, made a difference to the girls game. We had tried to encourage the girls to pass and keep to a formation, but we seemed to resort to dribbling and running with the ball, usually into trouble. Eventually we went down 3-1, and I must thank the support the girls got from family and friends as well as the staff at Liverpool for making the event memorable and a great experience. This was the 3rd time in 3 years St. Annes have qualified for the Liverpool finals, I hope we can repeat it next year. The girls final was won by St. Laurences-Kirkby, a team we drew with at the qualifier at Rainhill last month, so we have the ability. Thanks Mr. Thomas.
