Hello parents and carers,
I have taken the decision not to walk the children across to church for mass this morning.
The children would have been absolutely soaked walking there - and in my opinion it would have been the wrong thing to do. Additionally - the path to church develops large pooling areas around the pavement - presenting us with a safety issue. (Children would probably have had to be stepping into the road area to bypass it.)
My sincere apologies for any inconvenience to parents.
We would have asked Fr. Boniface to come across to school to say mass in school - but its our belief and expectation that he has given a commitment to parishioners that there will be mass available to them at that time in church - and therefore he needs to be able to see that commitment through.
We do take very seriously the importance of mass and meeting the obligation associated with Sts Peter and Paul Holy Day of Obligation. I do nevertheless believe its the right thing to do in these circumstances.
Kind regards
Joe White Headteacher
