Dear Parents, Despite the beautiful wet weather, yesterday, the two rugby teams had a great time at the District Rugby. With the help of Mr. Scott, we took a girls team and a mixed year 5 team, from the pupils who have attended rugby on Monday lunchtimes. Effort was as usual top drawer, everyone was wet. The year 5's learnt very quickly in their first competition, and Mr. Scott was delighted with their group results, which put them in the Bowl competition for the knockout stages. The Girls team, who have featured in 4 rugby events this year, were in a tight group, but also made the Bowl competition. Both teams ended up in a final decider against each other, played in good spirit, and well supported by the hardy parents and siblings. The match was won by the Girls team, who edged home to win the Bowl. This win, by the only girls team present, was an improvement on the last event, when the girls won the plate competition. A big thank you to all the support the sports department has received, from Staff, Parents, and siblings, old and new. I hope the year 5's step forward next year for the rugby, a big thank you to Sam Botfield, for the lunchtime coaching and the events he organised, but mainly the Pupils who make the events worthwhile, Thanks Mr Thomas.
