Dear Parents, an enjoyable and informative Saturday Morning at Ormskirk Rugby club. Our year 6's, who have great potential, but little practice, had a steep learning curve. In a group of 4 teams, we tried really hard and although we got visibly better with each game-we didn't win any matches-close but no win. This put us in the Plate knockout event, and we suffered an "extra-time" "Golden Try" to lose to Trinity and St. Mary's 2nd team, in the Plate semi-final. We finished the event in style beating St. Johns-but that only gave us 3rd in the Plate.
On reflection, we were unlucky, as the top two teams in our group-Halsall and Trinity's 1st team, went on to beat everyone else and contested the Cup final when Trinity won with a last minute try. Rufford, who were also in our group finished 2nd in the bowl competition, and Trinity's 2nd team went on to win the Plate final-so everyone we faced was really good, and we have to learn that team work in rugby is the key not individuals trying to score try of the Century. I must thank the pupils, as always for their effort, it cannot be faulted-just their application, can I also thank the Parents who came to support and the organisers and referee's who tried to give good advice to all. May I please have all Rugby kits in tomorrow-for the girls football Thursday, Thanks Mr. Thomas.
