Dear Reception Parents
We are delighted that some of our young children are ready to bring a reading book home. Just to remind you, each child will bring home two reading books each week. We would ask that you read the book with your child, it is good practise to look at the front cover, discuss what it might be about and then when reading each page use the picture as a cue to reading the words. We have been teaching the children to sound each letter and then to blend the word together. We have chosen books which have phonics in which relate to what phonics your child knows and has been learning in class. Once your child has had a go at reading, please write a comment in their home reading record. We have indicated in the front of your reading record the day which your child's book will be changed. We would ask that you still send your child's book bag into school on other days in case other items such as letters need to be sent home.
Next week, we will be learning about 'Africa' during 'Global Week'. We will be making African instruments, so if you have any toilet or kitchen roll holders or yogurt pots please could you send them into school. We will be sending a letter out today about tasting the fruits of Africa, please return the permission slip as soon as possible.
We have had some children who have lost their jumpers and cardigans in school, please could you check your child's clothing to ensure you have the correct clothing.
We would like to remind you about 'Twitter', we have been posting pictures of some of the things we have been doing in class.
Thank you
