Dear Parents, A big "Well done" to all our year 5 and 6 pupils. The school team (30) attended St. Bede's, last night, to compete in the District indoor athletics.
The event is organised by the School sports partnership and consists of boys and girls teams competing in 24 separate athletics events.
Points are awarded for overall scores (field event(3 pupils) scores are added together to make a team total for each event, scores for races are given to fastest times recorded.
Last night 13 schools took part, with 2 points for 13th place and 26 points for 1st.
St. Anne's won with 650 points, from Town green in 2nd with 530 points.
The strength of the team is not just in the outstanding individuals we have, but the strength in depth of the whole team, plus the philosophy in the school as a whole, of each Pupil trying their very best-this raises the standards for all, and is a great thing to see in our pupils.
A big thank you to St. Bede's for the facilities and equipment.
I must thank the organisers, it was a great event with so many pupils trying ever so hard, and showing their athletic skills.
I must thank the school, and staff, for their support, as well as the Parents who brought the pupils to practice and attended the event.
I must also thank the High school pupils who attended as sports leaders, time keepers and coach's, plus those who assisted our staff with the teams.
Thanks Mr. Thomas.
P.S. I have just been notified that our winning score was higher than the winning Skelmersdale event, and St. Annes shall attend the County Final at Blackpool-representing West Lancashire, on Tuesday 28th Feb-all day.
Blackpool Sports Centre, West Park Drive, Blackpool FY3 9HU.
Letters and information nearer the time-
