Dear Parents, My Thanks to all who played, supported and assisted, at yesterdays rugby. The weather was awful, the children fantastic. I was delighted with the effort and commitment from the players-it was not easy playing in so much wind, rain and mud.
The teams played 4 matches each in their separate leagues, the B Team finished 2nd in their group and went into the Bowl competition. The A team were placed in a really tough group containing a very good Halsall team and two visiting teams from Barton (last years county Champions) and a Wigan school, Trinity and St. Michaels. The two visiting schools could not enter the top competition-cup-as they came from outside West Lancashire, and the cup winners were due to represent West Lancashire at the Blackpool Youth Games. These two teams were excellent and showed all the pupils how to play the game, both these teams also went into the bowl, where unfortunately for us, they met our B. Team, who finished 3rd in the Bowl. The A team won a cup semi final and had a return match against Halsall for the Cup. The match was level at full time and Halsall won with a try in "Golden time"-1st to score wins! Everyone was wet and muddy, everyone was tired but I hope they all enjoyed the event. My Thanks to Mrs. McNally for assisting in such poor weather! Thanks Mr. Thomas.
