Facebook Post from Ormskirk and Burscough Police:
Police are appealing for information about an incident that occurred on Tuesday 21st March 2017, between 3.20 and 3.30pm. At this time, a 12 year old girl was at the junction of Ryburn Road, Dyers Lane and Moorgate, Ormskirk when a male approached her and asked her if she wanted to go to his home address. The male is described as white, 5 feet 3 inches in height, slim build with a frail complexion, aged around 70 years, grey hair wearing a black cap, black coat, brown trousers and shoes. He was described as needing a shave. The young girl is unhurt but we are appealing to members of the public who have any information which could lead to the identity of this person or indeed might have seen this male on the day to call 101 and quote log reference number LC-20170321-0853 and leave a message for the officer in the case, PC 3357 Simpson.
As a reminder if you have any information about this incident please do not comment on this Facebook post but call 101 directly.
Only as a precaution but officers will be in the immediate area in the short term for reassurance purposes.
Parents, your children have been spoken to in school today about the above and until further notice we ask that you also talk to your children about the dangers of talking to strangers and ask them to be vigilant if they walk home.
Thank you
